PreK Class (4-5 year olds)

An adaptive PreKindergarten class focuses on providing a supportive learning environment for young children who may need additional assistance in their educational journey. The curriculum is designed to meet individual needs, incorporating play-based learning, social skills development, and foundational academic skills. Teachers use a variety of engaging activities to help children develop their cognitive, emotional, and physical skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for their next steps in education. This approach fosters a love for learning while promoting confidence and independence in young learners.

We Support Georgia Connections Academy (GCA)!

The focus of Georgia Connections Academy (GCA) kindergarten program is to build a strong academic foundation while supporting social and emotional development in a flexible, online learning environment. Here are the key areas of focus:

  1. Core Academics:

    • Reading & Language Arts: Phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary, listening and speaking skills, and early writing.

    • Mathematics: Number recognition, counting, basic addition and subtraction, patterns, shapes, and measurement.

    • Science: Introduction to nature, weather, animals, plants, and the five senses through hands-on and observational learning.

    • Social Studies: Basic understanding of families, communities, maps, holidays, and important historical figures.

  2. Social-Emotional Learning:

    • Focus on developing cooperation, sharing, taking turns, and expressing feelings appropriately—key for future academic success.

  3. Individualized Instruction:

    • Lessons are paced to meet each child’s learning needs with support from certified teachers and learning coaches (often a parent or guardian at home).

  4. Interactive and Engaging Curriculum:

    • GCA uses multimedia tools, stories, games, and hands-on activities to keep young learners engaged in an online setting.

  5. Parental Involvement:

    • A strong emphasis is placed on the role of the Learning Coach to help facilitate learning, create routines, and guide children through lessons.

We are committed to providing tailored support to children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Our approach prioritizes the unique needs and goals outlined in each child’s IEP, ensuring they receive the personalized attention and accommodations necessary for their growth and success.

Through a collaborative effort with families, therapists, and educational professionals, we create adaptive learning environments that promote skill development, confidence, and independence. Our classrooms integrate evidence-based practices, specialized teaching techniques, and supportive technologies to help each child reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive setting.
